Camp Circle of Friends is Now Over and it was a Huge Success. The campers had a great time as well as our volunteers. We had such a terrific turnout that we actually accepted a few extra kids and obviously had to turn away many as well too. Remember, we cannot accept every kid (as much as we would like). It is a first come first serve basis. There is always next year so please make sure if you are a member of the ASNCI that your contact information is updated at least yearly and we send out Camp Information in Mid May. If you check our website regularly you will see updated information about Camp. Thanks again to ALL of the Wonderful Volunteers that took time out of their Busy Summer to help us out. We could not have done it without you.

The director of Camp Circle of Friends is Karen Cooper, the Autism Consultant for the South La Porte County Special Education Cooperative. She has served in this capacity for the past five years. Previous to this position, she taught preschoolers with handicaps for 17 years. She has been a member of the corporation's Autism Team for the past 13 years. She has been instrumental in helping to form the parent support group. Again this summer, Cooper will be assisted by Wendy Swanson as assistant director.  Wendy is a Speech and Language Assistant and also holds a degree in psychology. She has helped children with speech in a number of our schools including the preschool.  Wendy  has worked at Camp Circle of Friends since it began.  She is also a member of the  Special Education  Cooperative Autism Team.
